… and we’d love to have you join us!

The Saints currently have two Minecraft servers set up: Feed the Beast: Monster and Feed the Beast: Unleashed, hosted by Romanovski. (A shout-out to Roman for all the work he puts into making our Minecraft experience as great as possible!) Most people are currently playing on the FTB: Monster server, so I would recommend joining us there. You can check out this post on our forums for information on how to connect to the server.

FTB: Monster is a modded version of Minecraft that contains over 190 mods! The possibilities are literally endless! I highly recommend giving it a try. You can do everything from automated mining to making your very own flying ship or submarine, and so much more! If you are like me, you may have only ever played Vanilla Minecraft, so there is a lot to learn. But join us on TeamSpeak, and we have members who are more than happy to show you the ropes!

Our server is currently a mixture between creative and survival mode. The area surrounding the spawn point is designated for survival mode, with the creative areas being further away and marked with signs. Our goal is to let everyone play the mode that they enjoy, while not negatively impacting anyone else’s experience. So far we haven’t had an issues, which is a testament to the Christ-focused nature of our community! If you want to play in survival, just put up a sign next to your base. (You can also visit this post on our forums to record your base location so we can keep track of each other!)

Now I’ll lead you through the steps needed to join us in FTB: Monster.

  1. Download the FTB Launcher from the FTB site
  2. Run the Launcher and set everything up in your desired location.
  3. Once the Launcher is running, go to the Modpacks tab, and select Monster (v1.0.9) Minecraft version 1.6.4
  4. Optionally, you can go to the Options tab and change the RAM maximum to 2 or 3 for better performance if your computer can handle it.
  5. Now go back to the Modpacks tab. On the top of the launcher, directly underneath the Maps tab there should be a drop-down menu that says Recommended. Click on it, and change it to “1.0.10.”
  6. Now you are ready to launch the game for the first time! From the drop-down menu on the bottom next to “Launch” select “Create Profile.” Put in your Minecraft login information and click “Add.” Now click “Launch!”
  7. You will have to wait a while for the mod to install. Once you get to the start screen, exit the game. We’re not quite ready yet.
  8. Our server uses an extra mod not included in the Modpack, called ArchimedesShips Mod. You can download it from our TeamSpeak, right click on the Minecraft Channel, select “File Browser” and download the ArchimedesShips.zip file.
  9. Now re-open the FTB launcher and go to the Modpacks tab, and click “Edit Mod Pack” to open up the Mod Pack Editor. Some of the mods are disabled by default. Select all of the disabled mods on the right except for “Opis_1.1.3_alpha,” “ZansMinimap 1.6.4,” “JourneyMap3.1.0_Unlimited_MC1.6.4,” and “[1.6.4]ReiMinimap_v3.4_01” and then click “<<Enable.” The four mods that you didn’t activate are all minimap mods. You can choose one and enable it as well. I suggest trying them out one by one to see which one you like the best.
  10. Now click the “Add Mod” button in the Mod Pack Editor, and find the ArchimedesShip.zip that you downloaded from TeamSpeak. Select it and then click “Open.”
  11. You should be ready to go! Press “Launch” again.
  12. Once you get to the start screen, click “Multiplayer” and then click “Add server.” Enter in the server information which you can obtain in this thread.
  13. Then select the server and join us in FTB Monster!
  14. Additionally, you can also go to the Texturepacks tab of the Launcher and download a texture pack. I recommend Soartex Fanver. Once you click on it, select Monster from the drop-down menu at the bottom and click install texture pack. It will take a while. Then when you get to the start-screen of Minecraft, select “Options” then click “Resourcepacks” and double-click “Soartex.” It may take a while to load, be patient.

If you have any questions, feel free to hop on TeamSpeak. I personally struggled to set this up the first time, but Torshan was gracious enough to help me out! We hope to see you join us in FTB: Monster!
