Today, on Thursday, Aug 22nd, in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ, Anno Domini 2013, I woke up this morning, had my devotions and breakfast, and got a text from my employer that I, around ten o’clock, should call him to see if the weather would improve so that I could go work for him. Adjusting my plans for the day, I decided I would go to DelTech, the college to which I will be going, to get the rest of my books; so I got into my Toyota Camry, drove to DelTech, and got the rest of my books (turned out I only needed one book). I got a call from my employer that work would be canceled for the day. On the way home, it occurred to me that I could drive by my former high school and buzz Tim, a friend of mine and a senior there, about his going back to school, and otherwise, make myself friendly to the rest of the students there. So I did so, and I got there, and then went home, and realized (get ready, here it comes!!!) I already got the same book about a week ago. Duh-duh-duh-duuuuuh

So I proceed to go back to DelTech and I explained my situation to them. There were several others in the bookstore, besides the two male attendants and a female whom I assume was the overlord of the bookstore. I approached the counter and explained to the gentlemen my mistake, namely, that I thought that the two items required for the class on the list were both books-not one a book and the other a code, as the case was. They replied that others thought the same and were willing to pay me back, provided I give them the receipt that they gave me. I replied that I didn’t have the receipt and thought to myself, ”It’s all over, ahhhhh!” However, one of the male attendants looked into the cash register and realized he hadn’t given me my receipt. So he goes through the motions of giving me a refund, hands me a slip of paper to fill out, and gives me back $50 – following a policy (I assume, for I paid around $120 for the thing).

The moral of the story: From now on, I should enquire more fully about what such things are so that I may not have to pay for the same item twice (or whatever else the reader may glean from this story). My sincere hope is that someone may glean something from this and learn from my mistake. I know I will.
