“Why Do You Do What You Do?” It’s an interesting question. Do you talk a certain way because your siblings talk that way? Do you walk a certain way because your parents walk that way? Do you believe something because your friends believe it? What you believe is very important. Why? Because it is the foundation of your life.

“So why do you do what you do?” I have asked my self that question a lot and I am beginning to find out that there are some things that I did just because everyone else did them. Ask yourself that question. You would be amazed about how many things that we do and do not know why do them. Perhaps your pastor told you it was the right thing to do or maybe a friend, coworker, etc. Now I am not trying to plant a seed of distrust in your mine about your pastor but it did say in the bible how we are supposed to (as Acts 17:11 states) “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”If you believe a certain way because others believe that way then we are not following God, we are following men. Whenever my Dad is asked what denomination he is associated with he always answers “I am a baptist by belief, not by association”.

When hard times come what we believe, our “foundation” is what will decide whether we stand or get washed away.

So ask yourself “Why Do You Do What You Do?”
